Shawn Leffel’s interest in cars began with the memorable vehicles he saw in movies and television shows such as The Dukes of Hazzard, Knight Rider, Bullitt, and Starsky & Hutch. That early fascination grew into a career that has now spanned 28 years in the automotive industry.
Today, Shawn brings that same enthusiasm to Grease Diva Garage, whether he is solving a difficult mechanical problem or helping turn someone’s vision for a special vehicle into reality.
Shawn holds an Associate of Science degree in Automotive Technology and has completed more than 100 General Motors training certifications. He has also earned 11 ASE certifications, including advanced L1 diagnostic certification.
For Shawn, education does not stop with a degree or certificate. He continually works to stay knowledgeable across all areas of modern and classic vehicles because, as he puts it, “You never know what is coming in or who drives what car.”
One of Shawn’s greatest strengths is his ability to think outside the box. He enjoys taking on difficult problems, looking beyond the obvious answer, and repairing vehicles that others have been unable to figure out.
That persistence is especially valuable when a customer has been dealing with an ongoing or unusual problem. Shawn approaches each vehicle with patience, curiosity, and the determination to find the real cause, not simply treat the symptoms.
Beyond everyday repairs and diagnostics, Shawn enjoys helping people bring their automotive ideas to life. Whether preserving a classic, completing a custom project, or getting a beloved vehicle back on the road, he appreciates the personal meaning a vehicle can hold for its owner.
One project especially close to his heart was his 1968 Chevrolet El Camino—a vehicle he still remembers proudly.
What Shawn enjoys most about being an automotive technician is simple: making things work again and bringing a smile to someone’s face.
For him, repairing a vehicle is about more than fixing a machine. It means solving a problem, easing someone’s frustration, and helping them return to the road with confidence.
